Paul Rademacher has built a brilliant tool that shows how the Deepwater Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico compares to different cities around the world.  You can check it out here.  I tried Los Angeles and was blown away.  If the Deepwater Oil Spill happened here in Southern California it would cover an area from Huntington Beach to Santa Barbara and impact the beaches and Channel Islands along the way.  It would be catastrophic.

I don’t know if people are numb to natural disasters in the Southern part of our country; but I find the lack of awareness about the spill here on the West Coast depressing.
